Second Women in Drones Event Planned for InterDrone

Top women executives from UAV industry to lead panel discussion and luncheon at InterDrone fostering unique networking opportunity for women in the commercial drone market

MELVILLE, N.Y., May 9, 2016 — BZ Media LLC announced today the second Women in Drones Luncheon, a special networking event at InterDrone ™ The International Drone Conference & Exposition being held September 7-9 at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Gretchen West, a Senior Advisor at Hogan Lovells US LLP and former executive at Drone Deploy and AUVSI, will moderate the panel discussion.

West said, “Last year, InterDrone kicked off the Women in Drones phenomenon and the topic has become a national conversation. As a co-founder of the Women of Commercial Drones group and a long-time drone advocate, I’m thrilled to be a part of this exciting panel again this year at InterDrone, to connect with other women in the space, and to lead the conversation and help mentor women to become more engaged in our community and in leadership roles in technology in general.”

Panelists for the 2016 event include:
  • Lisa Ellman, Partner at Hogan Lovells and Co-Chair of the firm's global UAS Practice Group
  • Sally French, journalist at the Wall Street Journal, blogger behind TheDroneGirl.com
  • Jennifer Richter,  a partner with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld, and counsel to the Small UAV Coalition

“BZ Media and InterDrone are proud to have created this unique networking event allowing women to have an open discussion about both the challenges and opportunities in this growing but predominantly male industry. We are flattered that smaller niche UAV shows have copied the event and allowed this powerful gathering to occur at more than just our show,” said Katie Flash, Director of Conference Programs at BZ Media LLC.

InterDrone is the largest event dedicated to commercial drones in North America with nearly 2,800 attendees in 2015. This year InterDrone expects to host 4,000+ commercial drone buyers and flyers who will learn from more than 120 sessions and 135 exhibitors on the show floor. “Exhibitor revenue is already 25% above last year’s total and attendance is running way ahead of last year so we expect a blowout at InterDrone in 2016,” said Ted Bahr, InterDrone Chairman.

Sally French of the Wall Street Journal noted, “I attended the InterDrone Women in Drones Luncheon last year and it was the first time I had seen that many women in one room together who had a common interest. I know this year's event will be even bigger and I can't wait to be part of it.”
"In the year since the first Women in Drones Luncheon, the commercial drone industry has gained tremendous momentum -- it's one of the fastest growing sectors in technology. Women have been an early and integral part of paving the way for the commercial drone industry to succeed," said Lisa Ellman, co-chair, UAS Group, Hogan Lovells and Co-founder, Women of Commercial Drones Group. "I'm so excited to be back with some of the most talented women in the space for this next Women in Drones Luncheon, and I am looking forward to meeting others who are getting into the industry and exploring drones’ transformative economic potential.”

AFuzion Wins Germany & Turkey National Safety-Critical Training Venues

by Mr. Vance HILDERMAN (CEO, AFuzion Incorporated)
The largest safety-critical training venues in Germany and Turkey independently selected AFuzion as the provider of  their country's largest safety-critical training forums in DO-178C, DO-254, ARP-4754A, ADS-B and ISO-26262.

Munich's Aviation Electronics Europe event scheduled for April 20-21 is Europe’s largest aviation electronics conference with hundreds of experts and companies convening to learn, see, and share the latest technologies. AFuzion was selected as the sole provider of DO-178C training and ADS-B training to engineers and experts who will travel from throughout the world to attend.

Electronics Valley’s Education Week in Ankara Turkey May 2 through May 7 will be the world’s largest safety-critical training venue, with a dozen classes offered over the six-day period. Additional classes in ISO-26262, ARP-4754A, ARP-4761A plus DO-178C, and DO-254 training classes will be offered.

Says Vance Hilderman, CEO of AFuzion “We’re extremely proud to have been selected by the largest safety-critical event organizers in Europe:  Germany and Turkey.  AFuzion’s trainers have trained more persons in these subjects than all our competitors in the world … combined.  From our first class in 1993 to today, over 10,000 engineers from 40+ countries worldwide have been taught by the trainers of AFuzion. We’re expecting to train a few hundred more at the largest gatherings of engineers in Germany and Turkey.

Adds Chris Jackson, AFuzion co-founder “I depend on safety-critical engineering everyday when I drive my cars or fly our business jet. The odds are 99% that the products that keep my family and I safe have been infused with technology from AFuzion. We’re extremely pleased to have been selected to provide our training expertise to the world’s engineers at these two largest events in Germany and Turkey.  The map above shows a few places where our engineers have traveled to provide custom engineering solutions for our clients.”

Tech Source’s Tyton VS1 Rugged H.264 Video Encoder Delivers Dual HD-SDI Inputs and Bypass Video Outputs

• MIL-STD-810 and IP67 compliant Tyton VS1 features CoT & KLV metadata insertion, power and Ethernet redundancies, and SNMP/Web configuration

Altamonte Springs, Florida, September 15, 2015 – Tech Source, Inc., an independent supplier of high performance embedded video, graphics, and high-end computing solutions, has introduced the Tyton VS1 H.264 video encoder. Designed for Military, Aerospace and Harsh Environment C4ISR markets, it provides a ruggedized small form factor box-level video encoding and streaming solution. The product features a hardware implementation of CoT (Cursor on Target) and KLV (Key Length Value) metadata insertion supported via RS-232 or Ethernet. Control of encoding settings and retrieval of Tyton health information are all performed using an API built around SNMP for simple and secure communication.

The MIL-STD-810 and IP67 compliant Tyton VS1 is capable of encoding and streaming two 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs simultaneously using the highly versatile H.264 video encoding standard (MPEG-4 Part 10). It also features an internal video (3G-SDI) bypass to overcome the need for an external video splitter. The low power, low latency Tyton VS1 is an operating system independent, hardware agnostic, stand-alone rugged video encoding system. A control API is available for Windows XP/7/8 and Linux users to permit feature customization and IP address setting.

Selwyn L. Henriques, president and CEO of Tech Source Inc., commented, “The Tyton VS1 is a feature-rich, versatile and extremely cost-effective encoding and streaming solution. It was developed for easy field integration in harsh environments following significant customer involvement and feedback.”

“Streaming capacity and cost are key drivers in the defense and avionics market. So, we included two HD-SDI inputs in the Tyton VS1,” added Mr. Henriques. “We also added an internal video bypass feature – a market first – and thereby did away with the need for an external video splitter.”
